When we talk about hosting servers, there are 3 basic varieties - shared hosting servers, VPS (private virtual web servers) and dedicated servers. Shared web servers host numerous customers and therefore the resources per account are limited, virtual private servers offer more server configuration autonomy, but also influence other virtual hosting servers on the hardware node if utilized imprudently, and dedicated servers offer you the possibility to do everything you desire without interfering with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated servers?

Dedicated servers are normally much more high-priced than shared hosting web servers or private virtual web servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The explanation is pretty simple. If your corporation has a popular web page, or simply has very specific server setup requirements, the most relevant option would be a dedicated servers. For someone who is prepared to invest in safety and dependability, the bigger price is not a problem. You are given complete root-level access and can use 100 percent of the physical machine's resources without anyone else availing of these system resources and interfering with your websites.

Hardware architectures

Most hosting vendors, including us at Hosting All Star, offer several different hardware architectures you can select from based on your demands. The configurations offer different kinds of microprocessors, a different number of cores, different RAM and server hard drive sizes and different monthly bandwidth allowances. You can select a hosting Control Panel, which is a handy tool if you would like to utilize the dedicated servers for website hosting purposes solely and prefer not to use SSH for all the changes you will be making. We provide three kinds of hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The hosting CP of your choice

If you are a self-assured Linux user (our dedicated servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could administer your dedicated servers via an SSH console only. That, though, could be inconvenient, even more so if you wish to give full root access to someone else who has less technical expertise than yourself. That is why having hosting CP software pre-activated is a clever idea. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel tool that we provide does not give you full root-level access and is chiefly suitable for someone who runs many web portals that require lots of resources, but would like to manage the online portals, databases and email box accounts using an intuitive web hosting Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting CPs, on the other hand, give you root access and offer three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell web hosting packages rather than using the dedicated servers solely for yourself, you should select one of these two.

Web server monitoring and backup services

Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In the event of a problem with your dedicated server, like an unresponsive Apache or an outage, it is desirable to have some sort of monitoring platform activated. Here at Hosting All Star the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated servers as well. Backups are also an extra option - the web hosting provider offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could choose a kind of RAID that would permit you to store the same data on 2 server disk drives as a protective measure in case of a server hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted complete root-level access erases something by accident.
